The third annual bike race up Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain, is just around the corner and this year it is expected to be even more popular. This race is officially a mountain bike race on the road, but it is also open to road bicycles, the numbers of which are expected to be greater than previous years due to the ever increasing popularity of road cycling in Chiang Mai and Thailand.
Doi Inthanon, known locally as “The roof of Thailand”, stands at 2565m and is fast becoming a favorite road cycling challenge in Asia, with cyclists from both Thailand and abroad cycling the 48km ascent daily. The road climbs steeply in places, and passes several impressive waterfalls and hill tribe villages and the views over the nearby mountain range are spectacular.
The Crouching Tiger Team will again be present at this year’s bicycle race, to be held in mid February, and will be both racing and supporting clients taking part. If you would like any information about the bike race or advice on cycling up Doi Inthanon do not hesitate to contact us
