Gutsy Aussies Cycle up Doi Inthanon!

The Crouching Tiger Team has just returned after an amazing trip that we thought you would love to hear about. A group of Australian cyclists, living in Singapore, have just accomplished our Thai Highland Tour, usually taking 14 days, in just 4 days! Even our 14 day tour is challenging cycling for the super fit! Starting in Chiang Mai and taking in the most spectacular scenery through the highest and toughest mountains in Thailand, this road cycling tour traverses the famous Mae Hong Son loop. Culminating in the ascent of Thailand’s highest mountain Doi Inthanon, at 2565m over a climb of 47 kms, our clients take home some amazing memories, and two seriously tired legs!

We would like to acknowledge and congratulate our Aussie friends on their amazing accomplishment – a seemingly impossible goal when we were first asked to arrange their trip but well and truly achieved by one and all. This was certainly a cycling trip through Northern Thailand to be proud of.

Well done guys –  you rode Thailand's toughest mountain route and cycled up Doi Inthanon - We thoroughly enjoyed your company and stand astounded by your endurance and spirit.

Cycling Race Doi Inthanon 2010

The third annual bike race up Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain, is just around the corner and this year it is expected to be even more popular.  This race is officially a mountain bike race on the road, but it is also open to road bicycles, the numbers of which are expected to be greater than previous years due to the ever increasing popularity of road cycling in Chiang Mai and Thailand.

Doi Inthanon, known locally as “The roof of Thailand”, stands at 2565m and is fast becoming a favorite road cycling challenge in Asia, with cyclists from both Thailand and abroad cycling the 48km ascent daily. The road climbs steeply in places, and passes several impressive waterfalls and hill tribe villages and the views over the nearby mountain range are spectacular.

Crouching Tiger rolls on into 2010 with a new advertising campaign!

Our advertising campaign, to get us rolling through 2010, has started in earnest in the UK.  Cycling weekly: Health and Fitness magazine – Winter 2009 edition, is now on the shelves and we are delighted to say includes an advert for our road cycling tours for 2010. This is a cool magazine with interesting articles on building endurance, training and diet tips, and keeping fit in winter.

Of course the best way to boost your fitness and get you through the winter blues is to enjoy a welcome break and come join us on an exotic road cycling adventure through Thailand or Sri Lanka. Imagine taking home a tan that your colleagues will be envious of and that extra fitness to tide you over those long cold winter days.  We will leave you bursting with energy, full of enthusiasm and ready for the start of the road racing season. Cycling Active, also promoting our tours, will be on the shelves before Christmas in the UK and our Australian marketing campaign will start early next year. We will keep you informed.

Crouching Tiger meet the Sri Lankan Air Force Cycling Team!

While checking out the roads and our new itineraries in Sri Lanka we came across the Sri Lankan Air Force Cycling team out training with their coaches. They were just as excited as we were to stop and exchange stories and routes and cycling tips for cycling in this part of the world. We even exchanged cycling jerseys, so we now know that one of our new jerseys is out there training in the spectacular hills in central Sri Lanka!! And of course Marcus has hung his trophy – the Air Force Cycling Team jersey - in our HQ back in Chiang Mai. Another cycling adventure and more friends made – all in a days work!
